Voted 5/5 | I absolutely love this backpack. Where should I start?
1. It can handle massive loads - I've had 65 lbs of gear in and on it before, and it was actually comfortable to hike in. 
2. It is extremely durable - I backpacked, travelled, spelunked, and climbed in this pack for about 5 years and beat the crap out of it at times, no problem. 
3. It is very convient to use - There are 3 seperate compartments to organize your gear into. There is also a separate compartment for your sleeping bag, and a fanny pack for things like spare batteries and a first aid kit. This all adds up to not having to dig and search all of the time like in a toploader pack. 
4. It is very comfortable - I've hiked 15 miles a day with a full load and only my feet were a little sore. 
5. It is a great value - Costs much less than the big hauling top loaders.
It does weight about 2 pounds more and must be treated with Nikwax, but these are acceptable drawbacks in my opinion. I haven't seen anyone else in the mountains with travel packs, so I'm sure there are lots of doubters out there. If you're in the market for a pack this size, try it on and see.
Note: I have the previous edition pack that doesn't have those stupid wheels on it. They add about 2 lbs. and cannot be removed. I think Eagle Creek still makes the wheeless model, though. | | Posted Nov 26, 2002 4:13 pm |
