The BRD is Metolius's belay device. There is nothing really special about this device that sets it apart from other entries from other companies. It has the basic features you'd expect on any belay device, including "cooling slots / fins". Good fit and finish on the device with no rough edges.

It is rather similar to Black Diamond's ATC, save for the tab. I personally like the ATC-XP the most of the three.

They can be purchased for $20, or $25 with a locking pear 'biner (Now the smaller "Element" locker), which retails for $10 normally.
