Voted 5/5 | With 2,050 cubic inches of space, this model is a perfect sized pack for most day outings. It is also pitched as a school pack because the sleeve in the main compartment can hold a laptop. However, it is clearly better as an outings pack; that same sleeve holds a 100 oz. hydration bladder with an opening for the hose at the top of the sleeve. The pack has compression straps on the bottom and on both sides and a tool loop at bottom middle.
Apart from the main and secondary compartments (the latter has a number of nice little pockets perfect for compass, maps, etc.), I also find real nifty a zippered pocket at the top front of the pack which is the perfect size for keys and wallet. It also has deep mesh water bottles pockets on the sides and the X-bungee set-up on the very front enables you to secure quickly that layer of clothing you need to take off.
The shoulder pads feature extra padding and are extremely comfortable. The only thing “unorthodox” about this daypack is that it lacks a chest strap. However, I have found that if you have the shoulder straps adjusted snuggly, the absence of a chest strap is of no consequence.
I think this is a great daypack.
