Product DescriptionThe cinematography is breathtaking but the unifying theme is lifestyle, the common bond that unites climbers around the globe. It's a year in the life. What motivates these athletes to court danger? Higher Ground celebrates mountain culture through the eyes of world-class climbers. The film focuses on these climbers' drive to explore, their passion for the mountains and the climbing lifestyle. From big wall first ascents in Zion, Utah and winter alpine ascents in the Canadian Rockies to big wall ski descents in coastal British Columbia, Higher Ground spotlights some of the continent's most inaccessible terrain and the people who thrive there. A lens into their boundary-breaking passion illustrates what mountain culture is: an obsession. My OpinionThis movie just plain kicks ass! Even if you are not into climbing, this movie offers great cinemetography and the music is very well chosen. Amazing shots and great interviews. Get's you really psyced to ice climb, mountaineer, and climb in general. Really worth the money, the best climbing film I have seen to date!

Voted 3/5 | but not the best. I really liked this movie, but it wasn't the best thing since sliced bread. The mixed/ice-climbing parts are great and the Black Canyon & Zion rock is good as well. My only complaint is that there was too much talk/interviewing and montages of still photo's...who wants to see that? Kinda boring but luckily you can fast foreward through it. Also, the only section to feature alpine climbing didn't even show alpine climbing! The two guys started and got to the base of the climb, then got hit by an avalanche where one guy got his arm broke (they didn't snow any footage of this), just them talking about it afterwards! Why the hell waste our time showing guys getting ready for climbing and then show them talk about getting hit without any climbing footage whatsoever? Pointless. This could have been better. | | Posted Dec 28, 2007 12:13 pm |
