Bought one for my son for the White Mountains. It's nice and light and very usable for self arrest. The finish has held up nicely also. It does not scratch easily. But I find it too light for any serious chopping.I actually tried using it to break up an ice dam that was forming on my roof last winter, but had to switch to a hammer.

My experience is limited, but I really like this axe. It plunges well, holds an edge nicely, feels very solid, and is comfortable to carry. REI keeps the price at a good level.

It must be made by Grivel as it's almost exactly like the discontinued Air Tech but without the rubber grip. For some reason it feels a bit heavier even though without the grip it should technically be lighter.
