Reviews | mrbynum | PowerBar Gel = Leg Cramps? | | Voted 2/5 | After hiking for many years, I have only had 2 MAJOR leg cramps, once on Mt. Defiance, and once while hiking up to Crater Rock on Mt. Hood. Looking for the common factor in these cramps, I discovered that these are the only times when I used PowerBar Gel. Being a physicist, I know that this is not a statistically valid sample, but it does concern me that I've had major leg cramps 100% of the time when I've used this product.
My assumption here is that the massive amounts of Sodium (200mg compared to 20mg of Potassium) in this product is causing a major imbalance between the levels of Sodium and Potassium in my leg muscles, thus causing the cramps.
As far as the burst of energy goes, this certainly works as a quick pickup, but not enough of benefit if it means I'll have another wicked cramp. | | Posted Jul 16, 2007 2:59 pm | | tommi | Taste
Voted 3/5 | The taste of the powerbar gel is so strange, like eating plastic, so sweet and synthetic.
The price is really high and i think its not worth to spend so much money on it.
I have not had problems with leg cramps. | | Posted Jul 17, 2007 4:17 am | | MelbaToast | My favorite
Voted 4/5 | Maybe not for everyone but the tangerine is awesome. Gulps down easy and fast and leaves a nice aftertaste. The worst thing about gels is getting rid of the sticky package. I put them in a ziplock in my pocket for later dumpage. | | Posted Dec 22, 2007 4:43 pm |
