Product DescriptionThe Paris Sled is a cheap sledd for backcountry activities in the snow. Mostly it is used for hauling heay weights in plain areas. It is made for shorter trips.
The sled is produced of heavy .125 poly construction. Has a large capacity for packs and equipment. We putt two big 200 liter Ortlieb bags on it. Towing holes are reinforced with gromments for added strength.
It is 1,50 m long and 50cm wide and wights without shaft a little more than 2 kilos. In Europe you can buy it for less than $ 60.
ExperiencesWe used the sled for a 10 day trip on Hardangervidda, Norway in April 2007. We brought two Ortlieb waterproof bags with us, 30 kg each and did not reinforce the sled. For pulling a rope of seven meters trough the towing holes is enough. The the rope was linked to rucksack by two runners. In tha combination it was possible to go more or lees comfortably but going downhill was a mess. Next time we will bring a shaft.

Voted 5/5 | I tested out this sled during a weekend outing on Mt Shasta in Feb 2008. Of the 5 sleds that my group had, this one seemed to perform the best. It tracked surprisingly well and was less prone to sliding downhill while traversing than the other sleds, which were sliding all over the place. It also never tipped over once whereas the other sleds tipped a few times around sharp turns and tree wells. The grommets in the front are nice too for reducing wear on the cordlette.
I bought this sled at REI for $29. It's a great buy!
