The DownlowOk, so they are not approach shoes so to speak, but this is the best category for these sandals to fit into. They are by far the most comfortable sandals ever and have more than enough support for off-roading. I use them to approach climbs where there is moderate hiking involved, such as at Shelf Road or North Table mountain. I would not recomend these for scrambling or longer hikes, but for cragging around, these things are perfect and feel great. Plus, it makes putting on rocks shoes much quicker when you are wearing sandals.
A bit heavy and pricey, but very very comfortable, dry fast, and great support. Bottom line, these shoes are great and I highly recomend them. Images |

Hasn't voted | Best Sandals I have ever worn. My friend's doctor even recomended them to her for the incredible arch support. I wear them almost every day in the summer. Great for approaches to crags, buildering around campus, and hanging out at the bars. My only reservation is that they end up smelling pretty bad at the end of the day. But they are washing machine safe! I just throw them in with my wash and call it a day. Voted 5/5 | I now own 4 pairs of Chacos and recommend them to anyone and everyone. It was quite by accident that I figured out I can backpack in them. I did the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island in the summer of 2006 and was having trouble with my feet cramping in my boots so I tried the chacos(Z/2 with the unaweep sole) and they were amazing. After getting my ankles used to it the soles provided more than enough support and my foot felt secure. I now use my chaco as an approach shoe on firm ground (they don't work weel in sand or rocks as the rock/sand get under the straps or your foot. | | Posted Jun 14, 2007 6:42 pm |

Voted 5/5 | I wanted to wait a while before writing a review, to see if anything got worse, but nothing has. I have taken these things everywhere, literally! I love them for approach and use them on multiple mile hikes as well. Very comfortable, I can stay in them all day and not hurt. The only thing that is anoying is if you hike a lot in scree or sand, then the tiny rocks get in between the footbed and your foot, but other than that, these are really great. I used to think they felt heavy when I first bought them, but now do not even notice. I would say these are my first choice of shoes and I wear them at least 90% of the time. I highly recomend these!
