Product DescriptionThe Scarpa T1 is a tall 4 buckle boot that is primarily designed for all mountain telemarking with large shape skis. The features of this boot include micro adjustable buckles, power strap, thermo fit liner, adjustable cant, walk/ski mode ankle hinge, and a "power backbone" that extends from the sole under the ball of the foot back to just above the heel that is suposed to make the boot lateraly stiffer. With a "flexon" type bellows in front of the ankle this boot has a soft fowrward flex, while maintaining a stiff lateral shell.This boot weighs 8 lbs 4 oz per pair, based on euro size 27. Images |

Voted 4/5 | I purchased the Scarpa T1 boots in March of 2005 because I heard the rumor that they would be over 500.00 the next year due to the falling dollar in relation to the Euro. They were no more expensive last year, but they also did not change the boot except to put a scarpa logo on the toe. I have been less than overwhelmed with this boot, for several reasons:
1] I think the forward lean to the boot is too aggressive, causing fatigue issues when I just want to stand up and ride the ski. This might be ok for skiers who charge hard all day long, but for this old dog, I need a break some times.
2] They pinch my toes when I have to get down hard on the ski in a deep crouch. This was hard to tell until I was actually skiing down a steep chute, with a very high sphincter pucker factor [SPF]. However they don`t pinch on an easy going turn.
3] The liners are coming unstitched on the upper collar, I think this will cause a complete seperation of the liner. Scarpa has agreed to repair the liner by re-stitching it. All I have to do is turn loose of the boots for 3 weeks during ski season! Hah!
Positives of this boot are a very natural, and even forward flex, and laterally rigid design, resulting in a quick responsiveness edge to edge. They are warm too! The protector for the bellows is large enough to keep sharp edges from knicking the soft plastic of the bellows, but one of the screws holding it on has come up missing.
All in All I would rate this boot an 8 out of 10.
