Product DescriptionThe Quest is designed for all-season backpacking, mountaineering, alpinism, and adventure travel, and hauls 60 pounds comfortably, while weighing just three. It features two side hydration openings and an internal hydration sleeve; a front pocket to hold a shovel, shovel handle, skins, or probe; a removable lid with welded watertight zipper for the top pocket; two angled side mesh pockets; the ability to carry skis, snowboards, or snowshoes using side compression straps; a frame sheet with two adjustable aluminum stays; a shaped back panel and hip wings with padding to contour the back and hips; and contoured, compression molded hip wings that cushion and cup the hips. The Quest uses GoLite’s ComPacktor system, which lets you reduce the pack’s volume through two fixed compression anchor clips that convert a multi-day pack into a day-tripper.

Hasn't voted | I've owned one for several months now and it's a great pack. At just a few ounces over 3lbs, it's very light but it can comfortably carry a 40lb load. For shorter trips or summit pushes, the pack has two clips at the bottom ("Compacktor System")which reduce its capacity from about 4,300 c.i. to under 2,500. I've found that using this GoLite system with lighter loads, rather than carrying a lighter load without using the clips, improves the placement of lighter loads in the pack. The material is tough and I expect it to stand up well on winter climbs.
Prior to deciding on the GOLite Quest, I also considered the Wild Things Andinista and a couple of Cliogear products. I went with the GoLite based on features/value for the price. | | Posted Jul 6, 2007 2:16 pm |
